VJTI Director, Dr. Dhiren Patel’s visit to Silicon Valley USA to revive and consolidate alumni and industry partnerships

 

               

   VJTI Director, Dr. Dhiren Patel is currently on a visit to USA with a mission to revive and consolidate alumni offerings to VJTI as well as fostering industry partnerships. Dr. Patel met the alumni in the Bay area and interacted with them over dinners on June 20 and 21, 2018.

 

 

      Dr.Rajesh Parekh, Engineering Director at Google and Mr Niranjan Dhomse, Principal Architect at Neeve Research coordinated the event. Besides strengthening formal Alumni base in the USA, the discussion centred about challenges on improving education delivery and research at VJTI and creating internship opportunities for students. Alumni offered various ways and pledged to contribute. The alumni who attended are Rajesh Singh – President KR Services LLC, Amar Laud –Software Development Leader -Intuit, Yogesh Patel –Co-founder Sabse Technologies, Bhavesh Mehta Senior Director Google Maps, Paresh Desai –Senior Software Engineer KLA Tencor, Kanaiya Vasani –Vice President Infoblox, Parul Vasani – Lead UI Engineer Packet Design, Tony Fernandes –Chief Architect Visa, Niranjan Vaidya –Distinguished Engineer Broadcom and others.

      Dr. Dhiren Patel visited the Tata Consultancy Services’ Santa Clara facilities to kick start implementation of MOU between VJTI and TCS. The MOU will enable VJTI and TCS to work together in areas of common interest in the domain of Data and Analytics such as advanced analytics, machine learning, deep learning, and artificial intelligence.  The MOU also opens the prospect of exchanges of scholars and internships for VJTI students at TCS’s global research facilities.

  Dr. Patel visited Google Head Quarters and discussed with officials from Google towards creation of internship and employment tie ups with VJTI. Dr. Patel also visited Uber Headquarters at San Francisco and discussed access of next level of Uber Movement data to VJTI. Uber has expressed to sign an MoU with VJTI to leverage on Uber data and  promoting research on improving urban mobility of Mumbai city and around.

  Dr. Patel visited Stanford University Genetics Lab and met VJTI alumni Dr Anshul Kundaje who is a star faculty working on Data Science and Genomics. Dr. Patel would be available in West coast (Los Angeles) during 27-30 June 2018, Mid West (Denver)during 2-7 July 2018 and at East coast (Washington DC) from  9-12 July 2018.
