Industrial Visit to Reliance Private Limited, Patalganga Plant by the Textile Department on 23/10/2026
The Final Year Diploma students of the Textile Engineering Department, Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI), Matunga, Mumbai, visited Reliance Industries Limited, Patalganga Plant, located in Raigad district, Maharashtra, on 23rd October 2026 (Friday) as part of their academic and industrial learning activities.
Reliance Industries Limited is one of India's leading industrial enterprises, with significant contributions to the petrochemical and polyester industries. The Patalganga plant is associated with the manufacturing of important products such as polyester staple fibre, polyester filament yarn, polyester industrial yarn, purified terephthalic acid (PTA), and linear alkylbenzene (LAB), which serve as essential raw materials for various industrial applications.
The primary objective of the visit was to provide students with practical exposure to industrial operations, manufacturing processes, plant infrastructure, and the application of theoretical concepts in a real industrial environment. During the visit, students gained valuable insights into the working principles of industrial equipment, process flow, production systems, and the technical aspects of polyester manufacturing. The visit also helped them understand the importance of process control, quality assurance, safety practices, and efficient plant management in large-scale industrial operations.
The industrial interaction enabled students to relate the concepts learned in the classroom to actual manufacturing practices. It provided them with a better understanding of the complexities involved in polyester fibre and yarn production, which are difficult to comprehend fully through textbooks and classroom lectures alone.
The visit was an enriching learning experience for the students, enhancing their technical knowledge and awareness of the textile and petrochemical industries. It also helped them appreciate the role of modern technology, industrial practices, and quality standards in textile manufacturing. Such industrial visits play a vital role in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, thereby preparing students for future professional responsibilities in the textile industry.
