The Department of Technical and Applied Chemistry was established in 1906. The department is situated near gate number 13 of the Institute. The department conducts courses at the diploma and graduate level. The department is also recognized for doctoral research by the University of Mumbai. It has laboratories equipped with advanced equipment and test facilities. The department continuously undertakes research and consultancy projects to share and enhance technical knowledge. The faculty and students both benefited from the exposure they get through these activities.

The vision of the department is to be a nationally recognized Diploma Chemical Engineering program
Mission
- The Department’s mission is to provide a high-quality education in chemical engineering at the diploma levels that prepares students for productive careers in Engineering and allied fields yet for life as educated, effective citizens and leaders.
- Discover and disseminate new knowledge in Science and Engineering through creative activity in research and scholarship. Provide service to the state, nation and world by advancing the profession of Chemical Engineering.
