Miss. Jyotika Athavale is a Director, Engineering Architecture at Synopsys. Synopsys is one of world’s largest maker of Electronic Design Automation tools, Semiconductor IP, and Application Security Solutions.
Prior to Synopsys, Miss. Jyotika was Lead Technologist, Functional Safety Architecture at NVIDIA for three years. Prior to NVIDIA, Miss. Jyotika had worked at Intel Corporation for 20 years as Principal Engineer (Director). Miss. Jyotika serves as the 2024 President of the IEEE Computer Society, the world’s largest professional society of Computer and Information Technology Engineers. As President of IEEE CS, she has influence over US Government’s IT related laws and initiatives. She is the first India born and educated to become President of the IEEE Computer Society.
Miss. Jyotika provides leadership and influences several international standardization initiatives around Functional Safety in IEEE, ISO, SAE, JEDEC and OCP.
For her leadership in international safety standardization, she was awarded the 2023 IEEE SA Standards Medallion. Also, for her leadership in service, she was awarded the IEEE Computer Society Golden Core Award in 2022. In 2024, she was awarded the IEEE Women in Technology and Leadership Award for outstanding contributions to engineering and technology, the empowerment of diverse populations and the advancement of women in STEM, a rare achievement. She also co-founded the IEEE RAS (Reliability, Availability, Serviceability) Conference in 2024 and was appointed Chair of the 2025-26 IEEE Women In Engineering International Leadership Conference.
She is an appointed member, as an Industry Expert, on the Board of Studies for the Department of Computer Engineering and Information Technology at VJTI, Mumbai. She has delivered lectures to VJTI students and faculty and guides the faculty of Computer & IT Department regarding industry-oriented curriculum design. She has more than 10 publications and a patent titled “Functional Safety Controls Based on Soft Error Information”.
Miss. Jyotika holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from VJTI Mumbai and a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University, USA.
